The youngest shogi professional player in history, 4-dan Sota Fujii (15), has successfully claimed a victory with 114 moves against 4-dan Hirotaka Kajiura on the ninth round of the class C2 Meijin ranking tournament at the Shogi Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. With this being Fujii’s ninth consecutive victory, his advancement to class C1 has been guaranteed without him having to wait for the last round. At the same time, this advancement has also fulfilled the condition for him to be promoted to rank 5-dan. This is the first time in history that a middle school student has managed to achieve both of these accomplishments.
Shin-Sangokushimai (The True Sisters of The Three Kingdoms) is a new light novel series written by Mikage Kasuga who is known for his previous work Oda Nobuna no Yabou. The light novel is illustrated by Won (Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry) and published by Fujimi Fantasia Bunko. The first volume will be released on February 20, 2018.

The first photobook of popular voice actress Ayane Sakura, “Sakura no Oto”, has been revealed to feature special illustrations drawn by several popular manga artists. Kodansha, the publisher of the photobook, previously announced a reprint of the book a week before its release.
While the first two volumes of popular light novel series Ryuuou no Oshigoto! (The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!) was mostly an introduction to Yaichi’s two disciples, the third volume went on to establish the development for one of the characters that is mainly overlooked before. Being a volume that heavily brings up the theme of talent and hard work, it still remains one of my favorite parts of the series.
