[MagnAvaloN] Gi(a)rlish Number – 01
I didn’t expect to do this myself, but here it is: Gi(a)rlish Number’s first episode. As I said in the page, I’m doing this half-asleep for three hours straight, so there may be some mistakes. Nevertheless, I hope you can enjoy the show. As to whether I will be doing this for future episodes to come, I’m not really sure. Oh, and if you want to give any feedback or proofread the .srt file, feel free to; didn’t have one while working on this. I also talked a bit about the first episode earlier, which you can find here.
Note: for those who asked me whether I will continue subbing this, I’m not promising anything since a more experienced fansub group is picking it up, namely Good Job! Media. Also, it has been announced by Crunchyroll that they will be streaming this show.

After restlessly waiting for the next Oregairu volume and experiencing the terrible quarity ride that is Qualidea Code, I guess it’s relieving that Gi(a)rlish Number finally aired its first episode yesterday night on TBS. “Kimi no Na wa.” / “Your Name.” Claims 1st Place in Sixth Week, Surpasses “A Wind Rises”
A pleasant surprise: “Your Name.” (Kimi no Na wa.), Makoto Shinkai’s latest movie that has been attracting a lot of attention in Japan and worlwide, has just passed Hayao Miyazaki’s “A Wind Rises” (Kaze Tachinu) in sales.
Kimi no Na wa. (Your Name.) Write-up
Of all the things that have been dubbed a “national phenomenon” in Japan this year, Makoto Shinkai’s Kimi no Na wa. (Your Name.) is probably the most appropriate for the title. At the time I’m writing this, Your Name. has already become Japan’s highest grossing film of 2016 — even Anno Hideaki’s Shin Godzilla, Koe no Katachi movie, and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso’s live action movie couldn’t hope to compare. Your Name. is now a part of Japan’s all-time box office top 10, sitting at the 7th ranking (11.1 billion yen) while slowly crawling to beat Ghibli’s “The Wind Rises”. That’s a pretty fantastic feat to be accomplished by an animated movie. Not to mention, the movie has received a lot of critical acclaims and massive popularity on the side of creators, fans of Shinkai’s works, mainstream anime fans, and the general public. The sales of the novel released before the movie also skyrocketed following the movie’s rise to stardom.
One has to wonder: what makes Your Name. different than other animated movies? What allows the movie to soar to greater heights than the previous works Shinkai has crafted? When asked about what he thought regarding his movie becoming a 10-billion yen box-office hit, Shinkai admitted that the numbers are “quite frightening” as he doesn’t think it deserves that much of a merit, although he humbly stated he has the confidence that people would find the movie enjoyable. So, is Your Name. really is worthy of its fame? Or is it just a lackluster box-office movie riding on the tide of popularity?
Saekano Volume 10: A Creator’s Melancholy
Today, Saekano volume 10 is finally released; and while I haven’t got mine to read this time around, the summary’s basically out. This won’t be a detailed one, but it should cover the important points.
Oregairu Another: The Other Conclusion
As some of you know, the upcoming PSVita visual novel adaptation of Oregairu Zoku will be bundled with an OVA focused on Iroha’s story from volume 10.5 (likely the “Surely, Isshiki Iroha is made of sugar and spice, and something nice.” chapter). With Oregairu A or ANOTHER (an alternate storytelling of Oregairu by Watari with some different points) ending last month with the release of Zoku’s final BD, I feel like the series has come a long way and that the end we have all been waiting for is just over the corner. Since the final BD was released on April 28 and the visual novel will be released on July 28, so I figured I would schedule this post to be available for public starting from May 28, just to match. =)

Kantai Collection: A Year in Retrospect
It has been exactly a year since I decided to start delving into the world of the browser game that had been garnering considerable popularity at that time: Kantai Collection, or Kancolle for short. This time, I just want to talk a little bit about Kancolle and about myself.
Saekano Volume 8: A New Beginning
Saekano is one of my personal all-time favorite light novels, and I have been all over volume 8 since I got my hands on it last month. The introduction of the “new” blessing software, the dynamics of the heroines, and the charm of Megumi got me hooked even more. With story written by White Album 2’s Fumiaki Maruto and illustrations drawn by Cradle’s Kurehito Misaki, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) is showing signs that it can still improve with each new volume; I am personally hoping for a satisfying ending this time.
By the way, here is a summary of Saekano volume 8 that I wrote by myself; although I said “summary”, since this is my first time posting one, I tend to translate the whole part from some scenes and simply narrate less important ones. If you can bear with that, then read along. And for those of you who are anime-only viewers, this is a spoiler territory, so proceed with caution.
