Ryuuou no Oshigoto! (The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!) Volume 1 & Volume 2: The Start of a Journey

Two years since its first volume was published, Ryuuou no Oshigoto! (The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!) has managed to hit the first place in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! twice in a row, achieve one million overall sales, and secure an anime adaptation which will be coming up soon. All these achievements are nothing short of impressive for a series that doesn’t play by the book—amidst the industry where stories about reincarnation, life in another world, or edgy antisocial protagonists who double as a sorry excuse for the readers’ self-insert material dominate the market, Ryuuou no Oshigoto! shows us the possibility of having a light novel about a board game coming up on top.

With the anime airing on January 9, I reckon it’s about the perfect time to look back on what the series has gone through so far. Spoilers are obviously ahead, though I figured that most of you are here for them anyway. Anyway, you can join the Discord server here.

Synopsis

“I.. I love you, Megumi! I love the 3D (real) you!”

Overcoming the trials and tribulations of the “twist” and finally reaching the last spurt towards the completion of blessing software’s new work, I made one huge confession to Megumi.

“I’m going to make you a main heroine who sends people’s hearts pounding!”

Everything began on the day of that faithful encounter at the hill where cherry blossoms scatter.

Despite facing numerous difficulties, we managed to face our feelings thanks to our dear friends who are chasing that dream together.

“Have I become the main heroine that you desire, I wonder?”

You are no longer a boring heroine, you are the main heroine that sends our hearts pounding!

The love story with the boring girlfriend, complete!

Eromanga-sensei

Eromanga-sensei has been generating steam as one of Spring 2017’s most anticipated anime, and it’s certainly not without reason. Originally penned by Tsukasa Fushimi who was known for his previous popular—albeit controversial—work, OreImo (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai), the show doesn’t take long to establish what it’s all about: a slice-of-life romantic comedy involving a pair of siblings; only this time, we get to look at the story from the glasses of a high school light novel author instead of a plain highs school student. Also, Fushimi made it clear from early on that the characters aren’t blood related, which the series compromises with its overt inclination on the romantic relationship between the siblings.

Saekano Volume 12: Twist and Conclusion

Probably won’t be able to do a quick review on Saekano volume 12 since I’ve been occupied with work and lots of night shifts in these past few months, but here is a longer teaser. Hopefully you guys don’t mind.

Another important thing to note is that the series will be concluded in the next two volumes: Girls Side 3 and volume 13, just like what I’ve mentioned previously in the page. Get your hands on the light novel here!
