The official website of Yanagi Nagi recently got its information page updated with an exhilarating news for all Yanagi Nagi fans: the fifth single’s announcement! Entitled “Yukitoki”「ユキトキ」, the song will serve as the opening theme for the upcoming Spring 2013 anime “Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru.” (My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong As I Expected.), shortened as OreGairu「俺ガイル」.
The song will be composed and arranged by Kitagawa Katsutoshi from ROUND TABLE—known for famous anisong tracks like “Let Me be with You”—while Nagi herself is responsible for the lyrics. The single is slated for release on April 17th, 2013.
OreGairu is a light novel written by Watari Wataru and illustrated by Ponkan8「ぽんかん⑧」. The story revolves around a pragmatic, anti-social high school student with dead-fish eyes, Hikigaya Hachiman, who possesses a cynical way of thinking and holds a strong belief that “adolescence” is simply a lie told by hypocrites. Because of his corrupted personality, Hiratsuka Shizuka, his future counselor, forces Hachiman to become a member of Service Club which originally has only one member: Yukinoshita Yukino, the “cold beauty” of his school.
As time goes by, he starts dealing with more people because of his position as a member of the Service Club: Yuigahama Yui, who becomes the first client of Service Club; Zaimokuza Yoshiteru, a hardcore otaku who shows symptoms of “chuunibyou”; Totsuka Saika, a pretty-faced classmate of his; and even his own sister, Hikigaya Komachi, is dragged into this messed-up “love comedy” drama.
OreGairu is one of the light novels I’ve been wanting to see animated because of its interesting chemistry and fluid execution of scenes despite the recycled setting or theme, so I’m really overjoyed by fact that it is getting an anime adaptation AND Nagi-san is contributing for the theme song. I was like, “キタ━━━(゜∀゜)━━━!!!!!”
